Show Lark District Home Defense by Mrs. ' Bert Thomas Under the supervision of Captain Cap-tain Max M. : DuBois, the Lark civilian defense is progressing favorably. fa-vorably. Each unit is being trained train-ed in their various duties.. Meetings Meet-ings have been and are being held and instruction given. Ray Tatton, Bingham fire chief, and R. J. Contratto, Bingham policeman, po-liceman, were in Lark instructing instruct-ing firemen, policemen, air raid wardens in duties during an e-mergency. e-mergency. Each unit is receiving detailed instruction from these men. Fire department of the defense groups are sponsoring a show, "Fighting the Fire Bomb", to be held in Lark April 9. Final examinations will be given giv-en Friday evening for the men who have completed a course in first aid. On Friday, March 13, certificates certifi-cates were given 20 women who have received instruction in first aid under . supervision . of Irvin Stillman and Koss Pino, both of Bingham. The ladies are Belva Steele, Ina Lofgran, Idell Draper, Lenore Thorpe, Lavina Peterson, Fern Peterson, Hulda Christie, Sal Droubay, Mary Lou Wilde, Jessie Nielson, Mary Beth Walker, Walk-er, Lucy AugUstson, Mary Glea-son, Glea-son, Mary Serassio, Maxine Hatch, Dorothy Erickson, Hilda Grabner, Leona Peterson, Iris Smith and Myrtle Thomas. Dr. F. E. Straup, district chairman chair-man of the medical unit, met with heads of different groups and local lo-cal nurses on February 22. Plans were, drawn up for medical services ser-vices which should be available to any injured in Bingham district, dis-trict, for provision of supplies to equip a casualty station and instruction in-struction of groups in home nursing. nurs-ing. Two classes have been formed to complete a course in home nursing under capable supervision supervis-ion of Mrs. Alta Gleason Boyd, chairman, assisted by Mrs. Gordon Gor-don Meyerhoffer, Mrs. Boyd conducts con-ducts a class oa Thursday after-I after-I noon from 1:30 until 3:30 o'clock at the casualty room in the Lark school. On Monday evening a second class meets from 7:00 to 9:00 o'clock under Mrs. W. J. Fahrni. The course is run 12 weeks. The clothing committee has made a house to house canvass of the, five areas and has collected col-lected many articles of clothing and some donations of money to be kept to use in case of emergency. emer-gency.
