Show Jordan School District Cuts Budget Asks for Levy of 95 Mills Reflecting both future and nd past economy measures the 34 1933 budget of ot the Jordan school district totaling was Vas submitted to the county commission Wednesday A reduction n of in estimated expenditures from last year is provided provided pro pro- vided in the budget It requests a tax levy of 95 mills the same as 1932 An accompanying letter signed by Superintendent D. D C. C Jensen points out that the present assessed valuation vaua- vaua tion of ot the district Is a I decrease of oC approximately from the valuation of 1930 In 1932 1032 the valuation was 24 I Under these conditions the letter stated it would be impossible to maintain a semblance of a modern school system on a lev levy ev of or 95 mills if it the district were not In m good financial financial financial finan finan- cial condition havin having set aside funds during prosperous years ears to pay indebtedness in in- and complete the building program All the district must meet now are arc current operating expenses Superintendent Jensen urged that the levy be approved as soon as possible possible possible pos pos- sible in order to stabilize conditions In the district and allow the board of ot education to proceed with making teaching contracts for next school year The distribution of expenditures was given as follows Support and maintenance building and debt service 2250 Revenue is estimated as ns follows Tax levy state school fund state high school fund and miscellaneous The budget was presented to the commission by Superintendent Jensen Jen sen and the following members of the Jordan board of at education S.
