D Ga the the house naval committee would be adopted by congress congress con con- gress and if so cuts in navy yard personnel would not be necessary The navy has asked askedall all station commanders commanders commanders com com- manders to submit prospective economies economies mies and if the construction program programs is s not approved every navy yard will have to stand its share of mies mica The secretary said If the tho construction bill goes through there will be plenty of work for the yards he said If not there is is' is no use keeping people for whom you have no work With the possibility that economics might have to be effected the navy has under consideration some 50 plans for the distribution of cuts the he secretary said and added there was no basis for tor present speculation specula tion regarding particular yards and nd stations Irrespective of economies to be effected effected ef of- elsewhere the secretary is determined de- de to cut 10 per cent oft off the payroll In the department itself at Washington g |
