OCR Text	Eastman Guns for Official Records SAN FRANCISCO June June i 4 UP UP- UP Ben Eastman bespectacled Stanford runner was planning a birthday party party party par par- ty for what should be bc the feature of ot the annual Pacific Amateur association association association tion track and field championship meet at Kezar stadium this afternoon Just one year ago on a soaked rain track and competing in the same meet Blazing Ben rambled the half mile in the fastest time ever eyer made in the event on the coast up to that time Since then Eastman has proved himself one of the fastest men In the world now running the and bettering the world record time in both races He is credited with 1513 in the longer event as compared with the record of 1516 Today he hopes to obtain official recognition of ot a new mark for the mile half distance He also will go gunning for a new record In the meter event in which Sera Martin French runner holds the recognized recognised mark of 1506 A tape will be placed across the track live five yards three and quarter one-quarter inches from the finish finish fin tin ish line with a second tape strung across the latter mark
