Theodore Roosevelt told the members of tho Nineteenth Century Club tonight several things about ''Amerlciulsm In tmlitics" which probably they had not thought of. Ho laid the foundation for hii t tlk by remarking remark-ing that a good, btallhy American spirit would not prevail until tbe prefixes were knocked olTfrom the word American. This country has no ue for Irish-Americans, German Ger-man - American, Italian - Americans Ameri-cans or any other kind exrept plain, straightforward American. That one word ought to cover the whole population of tho United States. "It is all right to adopt tho welcome wel-come foreigners to this country," continued Mr. Itocsevelt, "but we 1 have a right to dtmand that they I shall leave their native politics at 1 home, and become real Americans. 1 It is an outrage for a people living I here as citizens to mix up Irish 1 politics, llrltish politics or any other I foreign politics with our politico I I Americanism is not a matter of , I birthplace or creed.
