3 Rescued as Fire Burns Down Pier PierS S NEW YORK June 2 P Three P-Three Three homeless men were rescued and others others others oth oth- ers may have been drowned early today when fire partly destroyed the abandoned Munson line pier on the East river The men police said were asleep on the pier when the flames names cut off their escape Most of them ju jumped Into the river Police Pollee and fireboats picked up three of the men and started search for the others The pier was being demolished for forthe forthe forthe the new city piers Police were aware of men sleeping there nights but did not disturb them as most of them are out of work 4
