It proved the largest and most disorderly meetinc held In the State since 1876. About one thousand Tillman men were rushed in on upcclal trains from other counties. They were thoroughly organized and Instructed to prevent IJtrle from speaking. Themajority of tlio assembly proved to be in favor of Karle. For half an hour the candidate faced a yelling mob, and was unable to say a word. There were many personal encounters, pistols were drawn and on half a dozen occasions a bloody and general tlghtseemedimmluent. The Carlo men finally massed and charged up to the stand, carrying ever thing beforethem. Four negroes were killed and fix wounded, two of whom are reported dying. Kight whites were shot, but lt is thought only one of them fatally, making eighteen in all killed and wounded. A special to the .Sun from Charleston, W.Va., says: There are great fears of n race warin Pocahontas mining region. All the evening of July 6 a couple cou-ple of hundred colored miners who had been on an excursion train on the Norfolk t Western road were returning home, roany under the Influence of liquor, and et upon a white min in tbe train and nearly killed him. Fouroftlie railroad's detectives who were ou the train interfered and a terrible fight ensued in which the detectives M ere badly done up aud one negro shot and others badly beaten. The train was stopped at the fetation and the citizeni saved the detectives' lives. Since then the feeling has been very bitter and trouble is momentarily expected. A Regatta Spoiled.
