Show i'elnniecl Missionary. Elder Ellas W. Crane, of Salica, Sevier County, returned last evening even-ing from a mission to tho Southern States. He left Utah on November Novem-ber 6th, lSSs, and first went to Georgia, where ho labored for nine months iu Warren and adjoiu-ingcountles. adjoiu-ingcountles. The Elders wcra not aide, however, to hold many meetings, meet-ings, owing to the III feeling displayed dis-played toward them. On two occasions occa-sions they fell into the hands of a mob, but, although threats were freely used, tliey were not sul jectesl to any personal violence. Next Elder Crane proceeded to Virginia, where belabored in nine different counties dutiug another period of nine months. In Virginia the Eldett found many gesd friends and were generally well received by the people, but there was very little inquiry concerning the Gospel. Elder Crane was released from his miso'on on the 1 9th of May to enable him to return home in consequence of illness in his family. |
