Through the undue oftlciousness of a boy telegraph operator at Rock Cut, near here this afternoon, a wreck was caused, resulting in the death of four trainmen and the injury in-jury of a number of other people, fwocoal trains were side-tracked at Rpck Cut. waiting for the Xew York and Philadelphia express from the south. Just as the headlight head-light of the express came into view it struck Operator Clarke that the switch ahead of the coal train was not set for the main track. Immediately Imme-diately he dashed out or the station, ruMiedlo the switch nd threw it r.r 1f realized too late that be had been mistaken. Before be could make a move to resetthe switch the express train rushed oatothesldlng and crashed Into the engine or the first coal train. The flreman and engiueerM both engines, Jamts Doyle, M. Furand, Michael Burke and Jeremiah Xe, were caughtln the wreckand ground o pieces. |
