Show Springville Red Devils Play All-Star M Men Team Saturday Feb. 5 In Benefit Game Official Score of Springville-Spanish Fork-Game Was 38-44 For Dons; Thorn, Smith and Fry Play Is Outstanding The Springville high school Red Devils draw a bye this week in league play, but will find themselves husv battling the M Men all-star team Saturday, Feb. 5 in a benefite contest for injured athletes of the school. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. In league contests Friday night the Juab Wasps will attempt to sting the Dons at Spanish Fork while the Tintic Miners travel to Payson. .Neither Juab nor Spanish Span-ish has lost a game to date. Coach Paul Wilson's Red Devils put up one of their most brilliant battles of the season against the visiting Spanish Fork Dons Friday but lacked 6 points of coming out on even terms with the sky giants. Even the playing of the Dons was upped a bit to match the stellar performance of the Springville five. Spanish, with Frarnpton and Money hitting for 15 and 13 points respectively, had too much height and came out on the long end of a 38-44 victory. Springville, behind the brilliant playing of Thorn, Fry and Smith, gave the Dons a stiff first quarter battle, and led them. 10-9. Money connected in the second quarter as the Spanish Forkers took a commanding com-manding 15-20 halftime lead and increased it to 32-25 at the third quarter. Springville, with Sanford San-ford hitting, made a belated rally that brought the score within 3 points in the closing moments. However, Frarnpton tanked another anoth-er basket and Spanish got a foul toss to put the game on ice. Both teams connected for 15 goals, 'but the superior shooting at the free throw line gave the Dons 6 extra counters. Gordon Smith, the jump-ingest jump-ingest center in the region, played a beautiful game and connected tor 14 points for Springville. Jim-nne Jim-nne 'luurns ciever Bail handling and fast breaks kept the JJono guessing an night, a'vy put in a well piayed iloor game and looked like a veteran.
