Show (Paragraphs Olj Interest . . : ;j Mr. and Mrs. John Parry left recently to spend two weeks in Los Angeles, and San Francisco, Calif. Accompanied toy relatives from Cedar City and Castle Gate, they planned to meet their son Bill Parry, who has been released from the mission in the Hawaiian Islands and he will accompany them home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson of Mapleton have received word that their son Welburn has been made president of the Hudson district mission. He is serving in the eastern east-ern states. Mrs. Lily Hopla of Mapleton visited recently with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Frandson of Logan. Visiting recently at the homes of relatives and friends at Mapleton Maple-ton were, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Self e and son Wilson of Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Selfe is the daughter of Mrs. Jamima Cazier of Mapleton. . . Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mendenhall of Mapleton had as recent guests their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Mehr and baby of Jackson, Wyo. Mr and Mrs. West Hutchings have had as their guests recently Mr and Mrs. Warner Thomas of Oakland, Calif. Mrs. Thomas is a sister of Mrs. Hutchings. Mr. and Mrs. George Adams former for-mer residents now living in Honolulu Hono-lulu T H., send their regards and best wishes to friends in Springville Spring-ville through Mrs. Nellie Anderson and Mrs. Beulah Whiting, who recently re-cently returned from a vacation on the islands. Mr. and' Mrs. Adams have toeen busy smce .going .go-ing to Hawaii, Mr. Adams having constructed several homes and Mrs Adams has been busy with church work. They met Mrs. Whiting soon after their arrival and took them to many places of interest on .the islands and were host and hostess to them on many different occasions. Mr. and Mrs. Adams plan to return to the States in the near future. Another Utahn whom Mrs. Anderson and Mrs Whiting enjoyed visiting was Miss Virginia McBride, formerly of Tooele, who is teaching school on the islands. Also Mr. and Mrs. Adams' daughter and husband Mr and Mrs. Ralph Brown had Mrs Whiting and Mrs. Anderson as their guests. Mr. Brown is engaged en-gaged in the real estate business on the island. Davidson of 851 Brooks.de Dr SDringville,' is serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer which has participated in the Pacific Flfet Exercises held off the West Coast. . I The three-week operation inclu- f ded units of the Sixth Army and of the Fourth Air Force. A main , objective of the exercises was to demonstrate what personnel in ST Fleet could do. with, equip- J ment and procedures available and to coordinate the three armed services in a defensive, aggressive aggres-sive team. Recent operations of the Boxer have included a brief visit to Ta-coma, Ta-coma, Wash., where she participated partici-pated in the Washington State American Legion Convention; an eight-week NROTC Midshipmen Cruise to the Hawaiian Islands; Amphibious Training exercises conducted off San Clemente Island Is-land and Camp Pendleton, Ocean-side, Ocean-side, Calif.; a recent visit to San Francisco in conjunction with the Portola Celebration, and a visit to the city of Santa Monica, Calif., for the celebration fo Navy Day. . The Reynolds brothers and one sister were together recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Ed. Reynolds, to celebrate the birthday of George Reynolds, who was visiting here from California, and also the birthday of Ed. Reynolds. Rey-nolds. It was the first time the group had been together for some time and they had their pictures taken for the occasion. Present were Arch Reynolds, James Edward Ed-ward and Mark Reynolds of Springville, George Reynolds of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Emma Em-ma Pace of Spanish Fork. Miss Joan Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne P. Smith of this city, came from Logan . to spend the Thanksgiving holidays here. On Monday, she was pledged to the Chi Omega, national sorority soror-ity at the U. S. A. C, where she is . enrolled as a freshman. Miss Smith will leave by plane this Saturday to fly to San Diego, Cal., with the ROTC Sponsor Unit to attend the football game. With other students, she will be a guest at the student body dance Saturday Satur-day evening and return home by plane on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Roylance and children Karen, Orville, Dwain and Ronald and Mrs. Betty Warren War-ren of Spanish Fork went to Ne-phi Ne-phi on Thanksgiving Day and were guests of their daughters, Mrs. Sam Sperry and Mrs. Frank Jenkins Jen-kins and families. |
