Total cases since 1 the first of the year is 163, compared com-pared with 22 for the correspond-! correspond-! ing period in 1947. Measles Leads Utah Disease Report Measles leads the list of communicable com-municable diseases reported this week to the state board of health. Of 333 cases of notifiable diseases, dis-eases, 170 are measles. Board of health officials report that the incidence of this disease has been increasing during the j.past few weeks. For a five year, period, 1942-1946, the state averaged aver-aged 6038 cases of measles, including in-cluding five deaths per year. Health officials point out that measles is a particularly serious disease among infants and young children and the greatest number num-ber of deaths occur in those age groups. The officials caution that when a child has been exposed ex-posed to measles, parents should get in touch with their family physician and obtain his advice |
