Show Religious Boycott Is Condemned In Mexico 0. There seems to be considerable anti-Protestant feeling in Mexico City where a Catholic Archbishop recently warned Catholics against the use of violence or other unauthorized unau-thorized methods to block the "inroads "in-roads of Protestantism." The Archbishop also condemned as "unjust and inadvisable" a boycott boy-cott of the Colgate Palmolive Peet company which it seem was based upon the alleged ground that the company gave financial aid to Protestant Pro-testant missions. The Catholic dignitary declared that "it is far from being proved" that the company "is sustaining Protestant missions with its money." mon-ey." He did not indicate,, however, that the boycott would be unjust even if the company had contributed contrib-uted to Protestant missions. It is rather difficult for one in this country to realize that there exists such intense religious feeling feel-ing in Mexico and other nations, and that it sometimes takes violent vio-lent forms. Leaders of religious organizations in this country, where we have religious freedom, might make an effective contribution contribu-tion to international good will by curbing the overzealous of their faith in other countries. |
