Show - urn Gold and Green 'Ball Beautiful And Successful Event Beautiful in every detail was the annual Gold and Green ball conducted on Friday evening at Memorial hall and which attracted a record crowd of townspeople, making mak-ing it one o f the most successful entertainments of its hind held here this season. A novel storybook theme was employed throughout the evening in the hall decorations and other details of the event. Mrs. Jessie Dalton, as narrator for the evening, eve-ning, further emphasized the theme in clever original verse. The floor 'show opened with Mrs. Rea Straw and Wm. Schrein-er Schrein-er reigning as king and queen of M. I. A. Land. They were attended at-tended by tiny Patricia Whiting and Ronald Miller, dressed in storybook costumes. Kathleen La-ney La-ney and Jim Whiting were trumpeters trump-eters of the kingdom. A fitting climax of the entire scene was the choosing of Kolob stake king and queen which was carried out in clever and appro-piate appro-piate manner, with each of the various ward queens drawing for the honor. Helen Wing, fairy of Gold and Green Land, presented the favors to the queens. Beverly Hancock, of 'the Sixth ward, and her escort, Jack Whiting, Whit-ing, were the lucky ones of the group and they made a handsome hand-some couple as the crowns were placed upon their heads. The floor show, one of the most beautiful yet presented in the stake, featured representatives from every class in the Mutual. Also adding a pretty note to the entertainment were the solo dance numbers -present by Louise Mecham, which won much applause. ap-plause. Accompanists for the floor show included Mrs. Yvonne Johnson at the piano and Mrs. Eileen Bird on the violin; also Pauline Boyer, Mrs. Annie Forshee and Mrs. Bill Cox with Golden Hanen singing the solo numbers in "America th Beautiful" and "God Bless America." Amer-ica." The floor-show-was directed b Marjorie and Lamar Miner, whc were assisted by Marie Johnson, Dolly Smith, Mary Cameron and Nell Condie. ' The decorations for the ball were made by students of the high school Art department under direction' di-rection' of Glenn Turner, and the members of the stake presidency and board were in charge of the decorating. |
