Show CITIES ASKED TO JOIN IN BEAUTIFICATION An appeal 10 mayors, service clubs and civic officials of every community in the state went for- J local communiy committees, the state Beautification committee will submit detailed programs, provide expert advice and assist, in the completion of a statewide program through local communi-by communi-by participation. ward this week from the iseauti-fication iseauti-fication of the Utah Centennial commission to organize and begin work for the 1947 statewide fete. The organizations were requested request-ed by Donald P. Lloyd, Beautification Beautifi-cation committee chairman, to appoint ap-point immediately, committees to supervise local toeautification work, to initiate clean-up projects, so that they may be ready to present pre-sent a spic and span appearance in 1947, and present communities which are equal in beauty to the natural scenic splendors of Utah. Five sub-committees will assist local committees in their work with suggestions, project outlines and expert advice. They include: 1) The Clean-up, Paint-up, and Fix-up committee, to encourage I the removal of unsightly build-j build-j ings, barns, fences and other objects ob-jects from state highways, and to encourage cleaning and painting all establishments; 2) Planning and zoning which will offer plans for development of community programs; 3) Industrial Development, Develop-ment, will undertake through cooperation co-operation of the Utah Dept. of Publicity and Indutrial Development Develop-ment a program to intereset business busi-ness organizations, trade associations associa-tions and others in local communities communi-ties of the state; 4) U.S.A.C. Extension Ex-tension Division will assist in the development upon more beautiful lines, of Utah farm properties; 5) the publicity and promotion, to keep communities informed and stimulated throughout the entire program by cooperation with the Pulblicity Director of the Centennial Centen-nial Commission.
