Monday and Tuesday, reunites reu-nites Robert Walker and Kernan Wynn in a continuation of the rollicking rol-licking screen adventures of America's Amer-ica's favorite G. I. Joes. The follow-up to "See Here, Private Hargrove," Har-grove," in which the erstwhile training camp comrades are now fullfledged fights in France furnishes fur-nishes Walker and his buddies with the same kind of action-packed action-packed comedy as the original. Walker, now a wide-eyed corporal, cor-poral, repeats the characterization originally made famous in the best-selling novel by Marion Hargrove. Har-grove. He comes to the new comedy com-edy fresh from his success in "Her Highness and the Bellboy." Keenan Wynn tops his own previous performance in the original orig-inal G. I. comedy as Mulvehill, Hargrove's fast-talking, smooth-talking smooth-talking pal. It was this characterization charac-terization in ,the original box office of-fice smash which won Wynn critical criti-cal acclaim and a rocket start toward his present popularity. Chill Wills, M-G-M-'s homespun comedian, again scores in the continuation con-tinuation of his original role as the hardboil'ed Sgt. Cramp, nemesis neme-sis of the two buddies. ' In the most important role of her screen career to date, Jean Porter Por-ter is the picture's sole feminine player. As a French mademoiselle who has her gleaming eyes on bashful Walker, this actress makes her mark as one of the important upcomers on the M-G-M- lot. She will be remembered as Red Skel-ton's Skel-ton's tiny sidekick in "Bathing Beauty." |
