Show FEE SYSTEM FOR ELK HUNT , IS CHANGED The Utah Fish and Game Dept., changing a long established practice, prac-tice, announced today that persons filing applications for elk permits need not submit the $10 permit fee with their application. The hunts will be conducted in the following districts: North Cache (20 bulls, 20 cows) Nov. 7-16; South Cache (125 either eith-er sex) Nov. 30-Dec. 9; Salt Lake (50 bulls) Nov. 7-16; Heaston (15 bulls, 10 cows) Nov. 7-16; Nebo-Mona Nebo-Mona (125 bulls, 125 cows) Nov. 30-Dec. 9; Nebo-Hilltop (75 either eith-er sex) Nov. 7-16; Nebo-Fountain Green (75 either sex) Nov. 7-16; Nebo-Mt. Loafer (75 either sex) Nov. 7-16; Nebo Creek (125 bulls) Nov. 7-16; Manti (60 bulls, 60 cows) Nov. 7-16; Fishlake (125 either sex) Nov. 7-16. Director Leonard emphasized that elk permits may be issued only on-ly to residents of Utah who have purchased a 1946 big game hunting hunt-ing license. ' "I particularly wish to stress this point," he asserted. "We have been receiving many applications from persons without the regular license who apparently are ignor-: ignor-: ant of the law regarding awarding award-ing of elk permits." He pointed out that non-residents, even though they may hold a non-resident big game license for the taking of deer are not eligible to participate in the elk hunt, i Leonard further explained that applications must contain the ap- plicant's full name and address, number of his or her 1946 big I game hunting license, choice of I hunting unit and sex of animal, j , The law provides that persons under 16 may not apply for or pos-i pos-i sess an elk permit; only one application appli-cation may be submitted by any one person; permits may not be transferred, and will be valid only ! for the hunting area, sex of animal ani-mal and during the season for which they are issued. Strict supervision by game wardens war-dens will mark this year's hunts. Hunters must register their per-l per-l mits at checking stations at each district and permit holders must I report to a game warden upon conclusion of the hunt, whether or not he or she is successful in killing an elk. |
