Show Utah Centennial Offers Talent Opportunity Presentation of Opera To Require Forty Actors, , Dancers and Singers; Prize Offered Author of Best Drama On Centennial Theme Here's the hig chance for Utahns who are interested in the stage and who have ability as writers, actors or actresses, singers or dancers. t In thirty Utah communities during dur-ing the Centennial year, the Art Division of the Centennial commission, com-mission, under the direction of Dr. Lorin F. Wheelwright, production manager, will present the oper-eretta oper-eretta "Blossom Time" with a professional cast of forty people. As far as possible, that cast will be recruited from talented Utahns under professional staging. Any Utahns, native or not, who have recognizable talent, have an opportunity to compete for the parts which include character parts, singers or dancers. Those who desire an auditioin may obtain it by contacting Dr. Lorin F. Wheelwright, Box 329, Salt Lake City 8, Utah. There are no prizes in the competition for parts other than the parts themselves. The winners will be paid professional salaries during the run of the play. For writers there is an even greater opportunity. The Centennial Centen-nial commission is offering a prize of $1,000 to the author of a drama to commemoi-ate the Utah Centennial. Cen-tennial. The rules and regulations are: 1) The theme may be factual or fictitious, comedy or tragedy. It must be consistent with the high ideals of the founders of the state and relate to Utah history, past, present or both. 2) It must be suitable in length for a conventional evening's performance. per-formance. 3) The author must assign exclusive ex-clusive rights to the Centennial Commission for fourteen months, June 15, 1947 to August 15, 1948, without other compensation than the $1,000. All rights will revert to the author after Aug. 15, 1948. 4) A committee of judges, whose selection will be final, will judge the entries.
