Show STATE HEALTH REPORT GIVEN Physicians and local health officers of-ficers reported to the state department de-partment of Health 235 cases of communicable diseases for the week ending August 30, 1946, as compared with 118 cases for last week, and 183 cases for the same week last year. The increase in communicable- diseases this week over last week is due largely to late reports from Murray in Salt Lake County. A total of 11 cases of poliomyelitis poliomye-litis has been reported for the week, 2 of which are non-resident cases (Evanston, Wyoming). For the same week last year there were 333 cases of poliomyelitis. Of j,the 9 resident cases this week, one is reported from Davis County; two from Salt Lake County; one from Uintah County; two from Utah County; two from Salt Lake City; and one from Provo City. All of the poliomyelitis cases except ex-cept one occurred among children ranging in age from iy2 to 15 years. The exception was an adult 32 years of age. There were 9 cases of tuberculosis tuber-culosis reported for the week, as compared with 6 cases for the same week last year. There were 2 malaria cases reported re-ported and in each instance the infection was contracted outside the Continental limits of the United States. The total of communicable diseases reported for the week is as follows: chickenpox, 9; whooping whoop-ing cough, 8; gonorrhea (resi- dent), 17; (non-resident), 7; syphilis syph-ilis (resident), 8; non-resident), 3; malaria fever, 2; and encephalitis, 1. |
