Show , FORMER SHERIFF AID HELD IN SOUTHERN CITY Harry T. Mower, former Utah county deputy sheriff charged with embezzlement in connection with the alleged theft of $474 in county funds, has been apprehended apprehend-ed by Shreveport, La., law enforcement en-forcement officers, Sheriff Theron S. Hall, Springville reported this week. Sheriff Hall received a telegram from Sheriff J. Howell Flournoy, Shreveport, stating that Mower was being held in jalt tbsre for Utah county officers. Utah Co. sheriff, Deputy Sheriff Walter Durrant, American Fork, and Co. Attorney Arnold Roylance of Springville, left Wednesday morning morn-ing by automobile for Shreveport. Although Louisiana authorities said Mower had waived extradition, extradi-tion, Sheriff Hall said he was taking tak-ing no chances of a slip-up and that extradition papers would be prepared in case the former deputy depu-ty changes his mind, and decides to fight his return to Utah. Acting on a tip received Monday Mon-day from police in Chicago, Mower's Mow-er's former residence, Sheriff Hall immediately wired Shreveport authorities au-thorities to check the address of a gas company there where Mower reportedly was working as a clerk. Chicago police previously had checked the gas company's home office in the Windy City for the Shreveport address. After receiving the tip from Chicago police, Sheriff Hall sent a certified copy of the complaint filed against Mower by airmail to Shreveport officers, with a warrant war-rant of arrest and a circular. |
