Show STATE REPORTS ON DISEASES FOR PAST WEEK Local health officers and physicians phy-sicians reported a total of 279 resident res-ident cases of communicable diseases dis-eases to the state department of health for the week ending May 9, 1947. Last week there were 356 cases reported and 681 for the same period last year. Two cases of diphtheria were reported from Salt Lake City during dur-ing the week, boosting to ten the total number of cases reported since the first of the year. For the same period of time last year, i-only two cases of diphtheria were 3 reported and during the entire year of 194G, there were fifteen cases reported. This increase in the num-" ber of cases of diphtheria, even though the numbers are small, indicates in-dicates the importance of diphtheria diph-theria immunization. The following is a list of all communicable diseases reported during the week: chickenpox, 60; diphtheria, 2; influenza, 6; measles, meas-les, 7; German measles, 3; mumps, 137; pneumonia, 8; scarlet fever, 7; tuberculosis, 3; tularemia, 2; undulant fever, 2; whooping cough, 15; gonorrhea, 10; syphilis, (resident), (resi-dent), 12; (non-resident), 2; ma-N laria fever, (nonresident), 1; jaundice, 1; cancer, (resident), 3; (nonresident), 1; and ringworm of the scalp, 1. |
