Show Factory Wages Up Gross average weekly earnings of workers in the nation's factories factor-ies rose from $54.47 in mid-November to a new high of 555.01 in mid-December 1948, according to estimates made by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department De-partment of Labor. The average work week was estimated at 39.9 hours. In the durable goods division, average weekly hours rose from 40.3 to 40.7, and weekly earnings from S58.53 to $59.32.
