Show Mrs. Carl Atkinson and daugh- ter Bunny, accompanied by her i sister, Miss Edna Nielson and Miss Sutton of Grantsville, left this week on a trip east. They plan to visit in Chicago, 111., with a sister, Mrs. Loya N. Lewis and family and Edna and Miss Sutton will go on to New York. Mrs. Lewis and three children will accompany Mrs. Atkinson and daughter on their return. They plan to be gone about two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Weight and daughters of Ogden spent Memorial Day with relatives and friends in Springville. ' Fred Clark of Springville, Was recently elected secretary of Sigma Sig-ma Beta Upsilon at Brigham Young University. The new unit, organized last week, is for men interested in music, and was organized to foster the mutual welfare and brotherhood brother-hood of students of music, and to develop the fraternal spirit among its members, according to a report from the university. Scott Thorn, Springville, was recently re-cently a featured tenor soloist at a vocal recital given by graduating graduat-ing students at Brigham Young University. -. Mr. Thorn is the student of Dr. Florence Jepperson Madsen, professor pro-fessor of vocal music at BYU. ' Mr. and Mrs. Earl Haymond have been visiting in Soda Springs, Ida., guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Christon. Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Giles left Saturday to spend the summer at Three-River Ranch at Moran, Wyo. They plan to be away until late fall. Colleen Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Lewis, was recently re-cently presented the Studio Guild gold medal for her oil painting, "Morning" at a recent student body assembly at Brigham Young University. Afton Ash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ash, is one of fifty freshman girls at Brigham Young University to be accepted into Y Calcares, national honorary service ser-vice organization for sophomore women. A grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required before acceptance ac-ceptance into the group. Round-n-About Town .'. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gammell of Bingham, Mrs. Josephine Duncan were among the Memorial Day visitors vi-sitors in Springville, visiting their mother, Mrs. Lottie Gammell. Mr. and Mrs. Gammell also visited their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Blake Gammell. - Mr. and Mrs. Dave Reynolds and daughter, accompanied by Mr. Reynold's sister, Mrs. Grant Clyde, returned Saturday from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they visited their parents and other relatives arid friends. Mr. Reynolds also went on to Detroit, Mich., and they returned in their new Chrysler. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clyde had their family all home on Sunday, the first time since 1946. Their daughter and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Pace came from San Jose, Calif.; also their sons Calvin and Hal and wives from Salt Lake City. Together with other members of the family, they enjoyed Sunday breakfast and din-den. din-den. In company with Dr. and Mrs. Pace, were Dr. and Mrs. Richard Easton of Modesta, Calif., and the four were enroute to New York to attend the American Medical Association convention. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Raleigh of Logan visited on Memorial Day with Mr. and Mrs. Owen Beardall and family here. Mr. and Mrs. Mark B. Cook and family left the past week to make their home for the summer at Marble Canyon 'Lodge, Cameron, Ariz. They plan to go to Phoenix for the winter. Mrs. May Bird came from Salt Lake City to spend the Memorial holidays with relatives and friends here. Mrs. Ruth Bennion of Salt Lake City visited over the week end at the home of Mrs. Margaret Miner. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hoyle of Salt Lake City were among the Memorial Day visitors in Springville. Spring-ville. Miss Legia Mendenhall, daughter daugh-ter of Wilford Mendenhall of Phoenix, Phoe-nix, Ariz., is spending a week with her aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clyde and family. Mrs. Edith P. Phillips plans to leave this week with her sister on a vacation to the Northwest. |
