Show OREM PROPERTY " SOLD AT PUBLIC AUCTION J. E. Robinson Buys Depot For $15,000; D. & R- G. Purchases Tracks The Springville Orem depot was sold at public auction last Saturday Satur-day to J. E. Robinson of this city for $15,000, according to a report of the sales held at the district court room of the City and County Coun-ty building in Provo. The Denver & Rio Grande railroad rail-road purchased the trackage in Springville fo $2185, it was reported. report-ed. Large crowds jammed the south District Court room and bidding became particularly lively Saturday Satur-day as sales were opened to .the general public . Friday sessions were confined to the sale of industrial indus-trial trackage in Salt Lake, Spanish Span-ish Fork, Springville and Orem areas, with only operating railroads rail-roads participating in the bids. Bidding was extremely active and prices were high as individuals purchased real estate belonging to the abandoned Salt Lake and Utah railroad, Saturday. Railway depots especially, were high priced and desirable. These included depots and sites at Spanish Fork, Pay-son, Pay-son, Springville and American Fork. The Spanish Fork property proper-ty went to John E. Booth, Spanish Fork, for $26,500. The depot at American Fork was purchased by Frank Eastmond, American Fork, for $27,000. The depot at Payson was bought by the Utah Oil Co. in a spirited contest with 'Payson City for $19,000. The Pleasant Grove depot, the Orem depot and the Payson shops were offered for sale and! bids were received but they were withdrawn with-drawn from competitive sale and Mr. Quinney said that arrangements arrange-ments would be made with individual individ-ual purchasers at the continuation of the sale next Thursday at 9 p. m., in Provo. The balance of the unsold real estate will be offered for sale at that time, he said, when more complete descriptions have been drawn up. |
