Show LOCAL MOTORIST ORDERED TO BE HELD FOR TRIAL Charged with failing to stop and render assistance at the scene of an accident, Leonard Dean Johnson, John-son, 24, Springville, was ordered bound over to the Fourth district court Monday by City Judge W. Dean Loose. Judge Loose has had the case under advisemen ever since opposing op-posing attorneys filed briefs, following fol-lowing a preliminary hearing concluded March 1. Johnson is at liberty on a $500 cash bond. The charge againsf - Johnson came as a result of the highway death of Chris Miller, also of Springville, veteran employe of the Columbia steel plant at Iron-ton Iron-ton who was killed instantly Jan. 26, when struck as he -was riding 'his bicycle home from work on U. S. Highway 91 between Springville and Provo. At the time of ,the preliminary hearing, Johnson sought dismissal dismis-sal of the charge chiefly on the grounds that he 'believed he had struck only a guard rail. He and other passengers with him admitted ad-mitted striking something at about the time and place Miller was struck but all contended they thought it was only a guard rail. |
