Show Jaycees Do Good Job In Reminding Motorists Of Pedestrian Danger A grim reminder has been set up on. the Main street of Springville. Perhaps you have all seen them. Three tombstones are setting on the thoroughfare as reminders to drivers and pedestrians pedes-trians alike, and with them is a warning: "Heed and live longer, postpone that last long sleep.'' These monuments and posters were placed by the Junior Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce safety committee. The job itself was done by Robert H. Peirce, chairman, who was most ably assisted by Scott Bertclsen and Jay Lowe. The markers are not to beautify the city, but for motorists to read and thereby profit. If a child ran out from behind a parked car after her ball, "COULD YOU STOP?" Or would you add another number to our ever-increasing traffic death toll? The Jaycee safety committee commit-tee asks that you just think, that is all; remember that maybe your boy or girl mav be number 159 on that list of traffic deaths this year, iust because a motorist wasn't able to stop. Remember the poster "COULD YOU STOP?" to save the life of a small child. The safety measure applies not only to small children in our community, com-munity, but to the adults. Remember, Re-member, drivers, sometime the pedestrian doesn't think, so you have to. Be able to stop at all times, remember you, too. are a pedestrian, and not always behind the wheel, so heed the warning, "COULD YOU STOP?" |
