Show CLUB GIRLS GET AWARDS FOR SUMMER'S WORK Springville 4-H Club Achievement Achieve-ment exercises were conducted at the Third ward chapel Friday afternoon, af-ternoon, with Mrs. Lizzie P. Billings, Bill-ings, supervisor, in charge. Singing of club songs was preceded pre-ceded by prayer by Mrs. Stella Ol-lerton. Ol-lerton. Mrs. Billings gave the welcome wel-come address followed by the club theme song, "Dreams," by the First year group, directed by Mrs. Ollerton. Reports of the year's activities were given by the various club presidents, Marie Clark, Elaine Ashcraft, Janet Norton, Kathleen Wainwright, Vonetta Miner and Margaret Alleman, and a musical program was presented by Marilyn Clark, Nancy Salisbury, Melva Loback, Bonnie Lee, Maxine Rob-bins Rob-bins and Dorothy Hansen, with Mrs. Hansen, accompanist. Mrs. S. Virl Jones gave a talk during the afternoon on "How 4-H Helps A Girl In The Home." Achievement awards were presented pre-sented by Rhea Hurst, county supervisor, su-pervisor, to the First year Sewing clubs led by Iris Palmer, Mary Kelly, Hannah Marie Billings,. Birdie Bir-die Holmes and Mrs. Stella Ollerton, Oller-ton, and the Second year Sewing club, led by LaVera Curtis and Laura Sower, received certificates of 100 percent accomplishment. Blue ribbons with defense stamps were also received by Melba Loback, Lo-back, Geraldine Murray, Elaine Ashcraft, Doris Mae Phillips, De-loris De-loris Childs, Margaret Alleman and Elaine Jones. A number of other girls received re-ceived red and white ribbons with defense stamps for their work. An exhibit of the work done by the girls during the summer featured fea-tured the exercises, which were concluded with an impressive style review, showing articles which the girls had made during the summer. |
