Show FOOD PACKAGES Food packages sent to American Ameri-can prisoners in Germany and Italy It-aly are getting through "fairly well," says the War Department. The packages which reach the prisoners weekly, via Switzerland, contain twelve ounces each of corned beef and pork luncheon beef, six ounces of prunes, six ounces of cheese, six ounces of biscuit, eight ounces of chocolate, sixteen ounces of milk powder (enough for four quarts), four ounces of concentrated orange juice, four ounces of powdered coffee, eight ounces of sugar, sixteen six-teen ounces of oleomargarine and eight ounces of canned salmon. sal-mon. The War Department says that if the consent of Japan can be obtained, supplies will be sent to American prisoners of that country on the same basis as to those in Germany and Italy. |
