Show The Oral Fransons Honored At Beautiful Home Wedding Reception Carnival Queen CLUB PARTY HONORS MRS. ORAL FRANSON A cleverly arranged St. Patrick's Pat-rick's party was given Monday evening for members of the Para-nada Para-nada club at the home of Mrs. Beth Johnson in Provo, especially honoring Mrs. Oral Franson, nee Nelda Johnson. The tables were decorated in green and white with iris and daffodils daf-fodils centering the. small tables. Luncheon was served early in the evening with combination St. Patrick's Pat-rick's favors and name cards marking places for Norda Fin-linson, Fin-linson, Teddy Thorpe, Margaret Keller, Virginia Simkins, Dorothy Richardson, Tess Hatfield, Fern Ostler, Mary Boyer, Laverne Singleton, Sin-gleton, Merlene Tew, Mildred Lar-sen, Lar-sen, Cleone Fox, Nelda Franson, and Beth Johnson, members, and for Mary Leroy and Afton Draper, special guests. Hearts was the diversion of the evening, with high score prize going to Teddy Thorpe. The club presented Mrs. Franson Fran-son with a lovely gift. BRIDE HOXORED AT SHOWER TUESDAY NIGHT Miss Helen Anderson, who will be married this evening to Leo Mason, was guest of honor at a shower held Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Warren Perry. Mrs. Vivian Averett, Mrs. Bessie Gourley, Mrs. Lula Jones, Mrs. Minnie Oakey, Mrs. Walter Bol-linder, Bol-linder, and Mrs. Sarah Mason were assisting hostesses. Miscellaneous games were played, play-ed, after which a delicious lunch eon was served to approximately forty guests. Many beautiful and useful wedding wed-ding gifts were received by the young couple. HANOVER, N. H. . . . ' T 1 . Standing before a fireplace banked with ferns, iris, and daffodils, daffo-dils, Mr. and . Mrs. Oral Franson received congratulations and best wishes from more than one hundred hun-dred friends and relatives Friday night at a reception held at the home of the bride's parents. The marriage was performed in the Salt Lake temple Wednesday, with Stephen L. Chipman, president presi-dent of the temple, officiating. The bride, the former Nelda Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson, wore a lovely love-ly gown' of white silk brocade, and she carried a bouquet of white freezias and pink rosebuds. Mrs. Burton Johnson, matron of honor, chose a pale blue satin gown, and wore a corsage of deep red rosebuds. Miss Avis -Thompson, bridesmaid, was attired in rose taffeta and wore a corsage of talisman roses. Ralph Franson, brother of the groom, was best man. The bride's mother chose a black velvet gown and the bridegroom's bride-groom's mother wore black crepe. Both wore corsages of gardenias. The bride and groom, their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Eleff Franson, Oakley, Utah, and members mem-bers of the bridal party, comprised compris-ed the receiving line. Mrs. Oliver Dalton, sister of the bride and acting as hostess, received the guests. In charge of the dining room were Mrs. Mae Groesbeck and Mrs. L. L. Baker. Miss Cleone Fox, Mrs. Roy Henrichsen, and Miss LaJeune Whitney poured. In charge of the gift room were Mrs. Myra Murray of Mapleton and Mrs. Ella Peterson of Oakley, assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Clara Johnson and Mrs. Fred Murray. The entertaining rooms were beautifully arranged with pink snapdragons and canary-colored gladioli, and the dining table was covered with a beautiful lace cloth and was centered with daffodils daf-fodils and iris, with orchid tapers in crystal candelabra at either end. Entertainment consisted of several sev-eral vocal trios by the Fox sisters, and instrumental selections by Phyllis Smart, Carol Condie, and Marian S. Johnson. William T. Tew, seminary principal, gave an inspirational talk. The young couple will live in Oakley. The bride is a graduate of the Brigham Young university and has taught school at Oakley and Kamas for the past two years. PARI PASSIJE CLUB ENJOYS PARTY AT HENRICHSENS Mrs. Roy Henrichsen entertained entertain-ed members of the Pari Passue club at her home Friday night. Mrs. Sharp Gillespie of Provo MRS. MARK SHELLEY HOXORED AT PARTY One of the gay parties of the week was that held Monday night at the home of Hazel Bray honoring honor-ing Mrs. Mark Shelley (the former for-mer Laverne Hone) who with her husband has left for Honolulu, Hawaii. Social conversation was the diversion di-version and luncheon was served to the following: Edna Nielson, Elsie Sumsion, Ina Sanford, Ruth Crandall, Hazel Bray, and the guest of honor. MILADY CLUB ENTERTAINED Memb.ers of the Milady club were entertained Wednesday at the home of Muriel Curtis. Sewing and conversation were the diversions of the afternoon, and refreshments were served in conclusion to Mrs. Val Curtis, a special guest, and to the following members: Vivian Averett, Grace Allan, Marva Averett, Florence Beardall, Ellen Erdmann, Margaret Mar-garet Wing, Dorthella Dunkley, Bea Beardall, Delia Whitehead. GUESTS ENJOY INFORMAL EVENING Mr. and Mrs. George Weight were host and hostess at a party held Friday night at. their home. During the evening Chinese checkers and social conversation were enjoyed, and a delicious luncheon was served to the following: fol-lowing: Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Childs, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weight, and the host and hostess. gave an interesting story of life in Borneo as the feature of the evening's entertainment. Luncheon was served according to a red and white color scheme to the following: Mrs. Virginia Law, Mrs. Max Sumsion, Mrs. William Clyde, Mrs. Kay Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Francis Hazel,' Mrs. La-Rell La-Rell Johnson, Mrs. Burton Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Bert Brown, Naomi Weight, Beth Miller, Martha Bird, Berniece Palfreyman, Mrs. Gerald Manson, Wayne Hacking, Mrs. Walter Clark, Mrs. Woodrow Thompson, and Mrs. Joseph Hansen, Han-sen, members, and to Mrs. Ray Kluck, Mrs. Frank Crandall, Mrs. Alton Harker, Mrs. Rex Woolsey, and Beulah Henrichsen, special guests. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Glen Law, Friday, February 2 8, and all members are urged to be present. LES VTVANTES CLUB HAS SCAVENGER HUNT A scavenger hunt was the diversion diver-sion of a party given for members of Les Vivantes club Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Lucille Lu-cille Curtis. From small tables centered with red and white sweet peas in keeping keep-ing with a Washington's birthday theme, luncheon was served in the early evening. Prize for the scavenger hunt went to Francis Tuttle. Later officers of-ficers were elected as follows: President, Florence Brammall; vice-president, Lucille Averett; secretary, Lucille Curtis; reporter, Katherine Tuttle. Attending were Annie Fox, Francis Tuttle, Bette Lee, Lucille Peterson, Lucille Jenkins, Enid Rowland, Lucille Walker, Berniece Ber-niece Woffinden, Louise Hjorth, Lucille Averett, and Florence Brammall. |
