Show M Men Tournament Now In Progress at H. S. Gym Two Springville Teams Competing In Tournament for Privilege Of Entering All-Church Competition The District Six M Men Basketball tournament began here yesterday, when Pleasant View ward of Sharon stake and Levan ward of Juab stake opened tourney play at 2 p. m. Special ceremonies conducted at 7:30 p. m. officially welcomed1 participants and tourney fans here for the four-day basketball classic. With sixteen teams still in the meet after yesterday's battles, eight of which were first round winners and eight losers, today's games should prove to be especially especial-ly close and interesting. Majileton In . . . The Denver stake, which was to be represented by the Laramie, Wyo., ward, was unable to participate partici-pate and the berth was awarded to Mapleton, Kolob runner-up. One of the strong teams of the tourney Provo Fourth won the divisional meet last year at Spanish Span-ish Fork, and captured second place in the All-Church finals. Springville First was runner-up to Provo Fourth last year, and was represented in the All-Church meet. Today's tourney games will start at 2 p. m., and will run continuously con-tinuously for eight games. Friday's Fri-day's contests will begin at 4 p. m., with the final day's games beginning be-ginning at 6 p. m. LeRoy Johnson, Provo district supervisor, is general manager, with Harold Christensen as local chairman of the tourney. |
