Show Art Unveiling Exercises Set Tuesday Morning, April 30 Prize-Winning Essays to Be Read and Paintings Awarded Winners B. F. Larsen to Be Guest Speaker One of the most important phases of the Art Exhibit, Ex-hibit, the annual" unveiling exercises, will be held Tuesday at 11 o'clock in the high school. Professor B. F. Larsen, head of the Arts department depart-ment of Brigham Young University, will be guest speaker, and musical numbers will be given by alumni of the high school. Prize-winning essays in the essay es-say contest will be read and pictures pic-tures presented as awards to the winners in both the Junior and Senior high schools. Nearly 800 essays have been written by students stu-dents of the high school on their favorite picture in the art exhibit. ex-hibit. All students are requested to participate in the contest, which is one of the most important phases of the April art show, because be-cause through it students become acquainted with the various pictures pic-tures and are Instructed on points of judging entries. Highlighting the exercises, of course, will be the unveiling of the purchase prize picture and at least one gift painting by Art Queens who will be selected as the queen contest winners. The unveiling exercises will be broadcast over KOVO. On Sunday Sun-day will be the last of the series ! of broadcasts over KOVO from the Art building when Claude Salisbury Sal-isbury and Miss Vilate Reynolds will give talks and music will be furnished by the alumni or the i high school. Last Sunday, talks were given by Howard Salisbury and Lois Celventra Child on "What the Art Has Meant to Me," and the musical program included ' a vocal solo by Reed Jones, ac-i ac-i companied by Helen Nelson; a i Tlolin solo by Jim Brailsford, ac-1 ac-1 companied by Mary Witney; and a musical reading of "Let This Be Heaven," by Harrison R. Merrill, given by Dick Miner, and he was accompanied by Cecelia Maycock. |
