Show L D. S. CHURCH RECOMMENDS FALL CLEAN-UP Word has been sent by the L. D. S. church beautification committee com-mittee to all wards and stake com-mitees, com-mitees, recommending and asking that a fall clean-up campaign be put over in each ward and in all communities. The time of the clean-up should be arranged by the various communities as well as methods employed by each, it is pointed out. During the summer months there has been an accumulation of waste, trash, and debris in many places. All of this should be cleaned clean-ed up and now is the time to do it, according to church committemen. Weeds and other such growths should be removed and burned. Places where insects and pests may hibernate and also their breeding places should be destroyed. de-stroyed. Another good reason for a thorough thor-ough fall clean-up is the protection protec-tion of our health. Unclean places may be disease-breeding, it is further fur-ther stated, with sickness and suffering suf-fering resulting and placing a burden bur-den on families. Clean, sanitary conditions help to protect health. Many fire hazards may be removed re-moved from homes and public buildings in such a clean-up. Remove Re-move anything obsolete which may have little value; it will help to improve im-prove the appearance of your homes and surroundings. Thousands Thous-ands of tourists have visited the west this summer and more are coming. If our homes, surroundings surround-ings and public places are clean, beautiful, and well taken care of, these travelers will go away with a favorable impression of our communities com-munities and people. The ward committees are also being reminded of the season's climax to the home beautification program, which is the scoring of all homes. It is not a contest. Every home scoring 70 or more of the 100 points is entitled to receive re-ceive an award. The ward committees commit-tees are asked to do the scoring soon, so that all who are entitled to an award may receive one. These awards are being given with the hope of Inspiring people to take greater pride in their homes, thus making them better places in which to live. |
