Show oAndrew Pierce Is Honored At dinner s Celebrating the occasion of his eightieth birthday, Andrew Pierce, well known local citizen, was guest of honor at a dinner given by his daughter, Miss Cleo Pierce, for immediate family members and close friends, Sunday afternoon at the Chicken Roost. Adding a unique note to the affair af-fair was a large bell, which Miss Pierce rang to summon the group to dinner. The bell, an heirloom in the family for many years, will be used hereafter on ceremonial occasions oc-casions of the Pierce family. Centering the dinner table was a large beautifully decorated birthday birth-day cake with candles to represent each ten years. A low bowl of asters as-ters and tall candles in crystal candelabra completed the attractive attrac-tive centerpiece for the table. During dinner, a delightful program pro-gram was given, with Robert Pierce, a grandson, entertaining with vocal selections, accompanied by Mrs. Otto Mehr of Logan; Mrs. Jessie Perkins of Smithfield, a daughter, rendering violin numbers; num-bers; Marilyn and Florence Wood, instrumental music; the guest of honor reciting poems of his boyhood boy-hood days; toasts, responses, and group singing of ."Happy Birthday" Birth-day" to the guest of honor. June Pierce was master of ceremonies. At the lose of the dinner, the group assembled at the Pierce home in the form of a family reunion re-union and enjoyed the time reminiscing. remi-niscing. In addition to best wishes extended ex-tended to Mr. Pierce during the day by his numerous local relatives rela-tives and friends, he received a number of telegrams, cards and other messages extending felicitations, felicita-tions, one of which was from Cyrus E. Dallin, a boyhood friend. Attending the anniversary dinner din-ner were Mr, and Mrs. Stanley Pierce of Spanish Fork, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hales, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Perkins of Smithfield, Cleo Pierce of Ogden, Clifford Pierce, Mr. and Mrs. David Noakes, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Mehr, Mrs. Frank Price of Logan, Mr. and Mrs. . L. S. Wood and daughters, Marilyn and Florence, June Pierce, Robert Pierce, Miss Elaine McPherson, Mrs. Mary Wood, who is Mr. Pierce's only sister and is now 85 years old, and Art Heavener of Provo. |
