LOCAL OFFICER MISSING IN BOMB MISSION Crew Seen Bailing Out Over France; Missing Since April 29 Lt. Vernon Tipton, son of Mrs. Lula Tipton Witney of this city, is reported missing in action, according accord-ing to word received by his mother. moth-er. The word came from Lt. Tipton's Tip-ton's wife, the former Norma Russell Rus-sell of Mesa, Ariz., who was no-tifed no-tifed in a telegram from the government, gov-ernment, "stating he had been missing since April. A letter received re-ceived by Mrs. Tipton, however, stated that Lt. Tipton's crew was seen bailing out from their plane over France. Lt. Tipton enlisted in. the air corps in May, 1942, and was commissioned com-missioned a second lieutenant and received his wings in June, 1943, at San Angelo, Texas. He was married February 13, 1943, in New Mexico and the couple later came here to go through the temple. tem-ple. His wife and baby daughter, three months old, whom he has never seen, reside in Mesa, Ariz. He is a graduate of the local high school and a former student of the Brigham Young university. Awaiting more word concerning concern-ing his fate, besides his mother, wife and daughter, are seven brothers and sisters, Donald Tipton, Tip-ton, who has been, in the armed forces three years and is now in New Britain Mrs. Bernice Rig-trup, Rig-trup, Norman and Glenn Tipton of Springville; Mrs. Helen Bring-hurst Bring-hurst now in. Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Naomi Moser, Hermosa Beach, Calif. Lt. Vernon Tipton, reported missing in flight over Europe. His crew was seen bailing out over France. |
