The amendments concerned the changing of the fiscal year of the state organization and the voting strength of the various organizations organiza-tions throughout the state, which were unanimously adopted by the group upon the explanation and recommendation of President Grant Thorn. Mr. Salisbury presented an exceptionally ex-ceptionally interesting outline of the war in terms of government spending, breaking down the enormous enor-mous figures into terms of their effect upon the ' ordinary individual. indivi-dual. He also read a letter from a local boy in the armed forces, which clearly gave the thoughts of the man in service in this great world-wide struggle. Mr. Salisbury stated he carried active correspondence corres-pondence with many of the local boys in the service, who are now scattered to the far corners of the globe, and he said their objective, collectively, was "Let's get It over with!" Before adjournment, Ray Richards Rich-ards announced that President Thorn had initiated a plan whereby where-by he will present a beautiful trophy tro-phy to the outstanding man, in the local club each year as an annual award. The trophy will be given to the member who accomplishes more for the club as a whole than any other man in the organization. Mr. Richards highly commended Mr. Thorn for his splendid leadership leader-ship this year, and urged all members mem-bers to put forth every effort to work for the award and give their best talents to make the local organization or-ganization the most active and outstanding out-standing in the state. The next meeting of the organization or-ganization was canceled and in its place President Thorn urged every member to attend the state convention con-vention at the Newhouse Hotel in Salt Lake City. Nine new members were welcomed welcom-ed into the club at the meeting, bringing the total on the roster to 54, a gain of 26 to date this year. They are: Joe Gordon, Jack Thomas, Del Humphrey, Dr. C. A. King, Steve Miller, A. H. Morten-sen, Morten-sen, Dr. R. C. Petty, Bill Ostlund, and Howard Maycock. |
