Show rrDo You member" Tarty Held Last Friday "For sure, It was a. grand occasion occa-sion on Friday evening of last week when the "Do You Remember" Remem-ber" folks were called together at Memorial hall by the ringing of the old Washington school bell. This celebration marked the fourth annual party of the group which is growing each year as old friends come back home and meet with friends here. The assembly, once each year, is for the purpose of exchanging and collecting memories mem-ories of former days when all were students at the Springville high school. A most interesting program was given during the evening. Cleo Heavener gave a toast to the past and Alice Davis ,a toast to the present. Catherine D. Wills gave a vocal solo, accompanied by Lucille Bird, and Rea Straw entertained with a comic reading. Community singing was led by Nell Condie and began with the singing of the group theme song, "The Old Gray Gals Are Not What They Used To Wuz," followed by old high school and folk songs and ending with Auld Lang Syne. Mrs. Condie rendered two original solos bringing back pleasant memories of high school days. Mrs. Jessie Ar-rowsmith Ar-rowsmith gave an original allegorical allego-rical reading, bearing on traditions which influence our lives, past, present, and future. Zina Condie on the spur of the moment, gave a clever skit which added zest and merriment to the occasion. At the close of the party an exchange ex-change of "white elephant" gifts was made among the following friends present: Emma Gardner, Floss Phillips, Gertrude Sumsion, Lois Clegg, Mae Huntington, Jessie Jes-sie Arrowsmith, Philda Finley, Blanche Groneman, Nell Condie, Ida Bird, Melinda Sumsion, Clara Sumsion, Rea Straw, Ellen Anderson, Ander-son, Lucy Phillips, Alice Davis, Catherine Wills, Lucille Bird, Hazel Haz-el Harrison, Cleo Heavener, Jen Clyde and Zina Condie. Committee members chosen for next year are: Rea Straw, chairman, chair-man, Hazel Harrison, Ellen Anderson, Ander-son, and Mae Huntington. |
