Show Legion, Auxiliary Go Over The Top In August War Bond Drive Total Bonds Sales Reach $74,400 During August Which Is $28,550 Over Quota Set For Local Groups; Help Of Townfolk Appreciated The Springville Post American Legion and Auxiliary Aux-iliary have gone over the top in the August bond drive, and are reported to be anions: the first to reach their goal, and have probably gone further over the top than the majority ma-jority of organizations in the state, it was reported Wednesday. A total of $74,400 in bonds were sold during the month. The city's quota was $45,850, or an average of $350 for every Legion and Auxiliary Aux-iliary member In Springville. Credit for the success of the drive goes to general committeemen committee-men of the two organizations, J. W. Grant and Mrs. P. C. Packard, who were assisted by sub-commit-teemen and practically the entire membership of the Legion and Auxiliary in the drive. Splendid cooperation was received by the committees from everyone in the community. To facilitate sales during the month, the Legion and Auxiliary were divided into groups headed by a sub-committee member and in connection with the drive, a contest was conducted between the various groups. While it has not been exactly determined which group was the losers in the contest, con-test, the team which sold the fewest few-est number of bonds during the month is to be host and hostess to the membership of the Legion and Auxiliary at a canyon party set for September 11. The sub-committee groups were headed by Ed Johnson and Ada Barron; Marcellus Nielson, Hilda Grant; H. T. Reynolds, Inez Chad-er; Chad-er; Glen Sumsion, Mabel Brown; John Miller, Olive Miller. |
