Show COAST GUARD SEEKING MEN Twenty young men from the in-termountain in-termountain area will be sought by the U. S. coast guard for enlistment enlist-ment and departure February 2 5 to begin three months' training at Port Townsend, Wash., L. J. Kir-stine, Kir-stine, officer in charge of the Salt Lake district recruiting office, said Sunday. Applicants must be between 18 and 2 5 years of age, over five feet six inches tall, of good character and in sound physical condition. Following Port Townsend train-, ing candidates are sent to sea units for four months' additional training at the end of which they become seamen second class, receiving re-ceiving $36 monthly, maintenance, full clothing and equipment. Monday a mobile coast guard recruiting unit will leave Salt Lake City via highway 91 for Las Vegas, Nev., Arizona and New Mexico. It will return through southern Utah in about 10 days to two weeks. |
