Show Sage Grouse Hunt " Set Sept. 20, Oct. 1 In State After considerable study the Fish and Game Commission has decided that 350 permits on six different areas will be open to a sage hen season. The sage hen season will be September Sep-tember 30th and October 1st. Each permit holder will be allowed a possession limit of two birds for the season. The areas to be hunted and the number of permits for each are as follows: Diamond Mountain, 125; Lakes Six Mile, 50; (This, is the area east of Bear Lake to the Colorado border) Grass Valley, 50; John's Valley, 50; The Hatch Summit Area, 50; Woodruff Dry Hollow, 25. The permits will cost sportsmen $3.00 each. Applications will be accepted by mail only, and the sportsmen may begin applying on August 21, 1950, and all aplica-tions aplica-tions must be postmarked not later la-ter than September 1, 1950. The drawing for lucky numbers will be held at 2 p.m., September 8, 1950, at the State Capitol Building. Build-ing. Utah has not had a sage hen hunt since 1932, and until recently there seems to have been no upward up-ward trend in sage hen populations. popula-tions. Local sportsmen's groups have approved the sage grouse hunts in the areas noted. , Following the drawing on September Sep-tember 8th, unsuccessful applicants will have their money returned. Successful applicants will receive a receipt for their $3.00. In each area checking stations will be set up. When the hunter checks into the checking station he will be given the hunting permit and tags to be placed on the sage hens which he has bagged. The shooting for the two days will begin at 7 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. |
