Show Mapleton's Oldest Pioneer . . . ' I . . - ;:" .j Hyrum B. Perry Hyrum Perry Celebrates 91st Birthday Sunday Hyrum Boggs (Gampy) Perry, oldest living pioneer of Maple-ton Maple-ton will be 91 years old, come Sunday. August 13, and on the occasion, oc-casion, he will greet his many friends,- relatives and neighbors at an open-house reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John I. Holley at Mapleton, between 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. Assisting with the reception will be Mr. Perry's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Curtis. A birthday dinner will also be given on Sunday with immediate immed-iate family members as guests. Since the death of his wife in 1935, Mr. Perry has had various var-ious relatives live with him up until two years ago when he began doing his own cooking. He also, cares for his chickens, mowes his lawn, raises a garden and does much of his own house work aided by kind neighbors and relatives. During his early life, he was active in community, as well as church affairs. He was born in Springville, August. 13, 1859 of pioneer parents, par-ents, Stephen Chadwick and Mary Boggs Perry. He married Luella Roundy, March 13, 1884 in the Salt Lake Endowment House. They were among the first settlers in Mapleton although Mr.' Perry had lived there several years before his marriage. |
