Show 1 Mapleton Places Second in M Men ; Tourney: Will Enter All - Church Grayson ward of Blanding won their fifth 1 1 consecutive Division 5 M Men crown following the tournament here Saturday niaht. Thev won I : I S . . . ...... George Black named one of five top A cagers. . over the Mapleton First ward 73-45 in a surprisingly easy j contest. :i As a result of winning the tourney, Grayson will go into the All-Church tourney at the Y fieldhouse beginning March 25. Mapleton also will enter the tournament as the runner-up team from the division. A previous pre-vious play-off for the Mapleton i. team was cancelled and they I were given a berth in the meet II along with Grayson. Spanish Fork First defeated i their town rivals Second Ward, 46-35 for third and sixth place. Fillmore Third won fifth place , 1 by defeating Payson Third 57- 42 who placed eighth. Payson 1 First beat Delta Third 58-49 for I fourth and seventh spot. I Ten best player awards were given to Duane Hiatt, Payson I 1st; Jack Swenson, Spanish 1 Fork 2nd; Clair Bishop, Hinck-i Hinck-i ley; Ned Grant, Spanish Fork 3rd; Vern Young, Springville 12th; Ross Marshall, Fillmore 3rd; Bob Swartz, Spanish Fork 1st; Darrell Warren, Mapleton ; 1st; Richard Perkins and Nel-1 Nel-1 : don Cochran of Grayson. Most Valuable Player award went to ' r Jim Cox of Delta Third. Cox j was the top tourney scorer of '! the meet with a high 97 for four games. , Locals Lose Three of the four Springville and Kolob stake teams were eliminated from the tourney after losing two games. Fifth ! i lost their first game to Spanish ' Fork 2nd 60-39 and then drop ped a 41-51 decision to Fillmore . Third the second night. Tenth won over Farming-ton Farming-ton Second 53-39 the first night but lost to Spanish Fork First 51-49 in a thriller the second night and 40-50 to Delta Third the third night. Springville 12th played Grayson the best game of any team in the meet by leading them through three quarters before succumbing to. the fast break 52-68. Payson Third eliminated them in a thrilling overtime . the next night 52-54. High scorers for the tournament tourna-ment were: Cox, Delta 3rd, 97; Swenson, Spanish Fork 2nd, 70; Neldon Cochran, Grayson, 67; Warren, Mapleton First, 66; Hiatt, Payson 1st, 58; Perkins, Grayson, 55; Peterson, Fillmore, 49; Swartz, Spanish Fork 1st, 48.
