Teacher Receives Fellowship to Attend Stanford Omar Hansen, instructor in the physics and chemistry 1 department de-partment of the high school, is one of forty-five to receive the Shell Merit Fellowship given by Stanford University in the teaching area of physics, it was announced today. The fellowship includes full tuition, board and room, travel expense and book allowance and a stipend of $500 for summer study at the University from June 24 to August 25. During the time, Mr. Hansen plans to work on his Masters degree. A graduate of the BYU with a BS degree in 1947, he has taught in the high school here the past ten years, two years in mathmatics and the last eight in physics and chemistry. Before his graduation, he attended at-tended U.S. Naval radar and radio tecrnical school. In accepting the Shell Merit Fellowship, Mr. Hansen agrees to remain in the science teaching teach-ing program at least two years longer. |
