Provo, which scored its only touchdown on an intercepted pass, good for 50 yards to paydirt, held on to a 7-6 lead up until the final five minutes of the exciting and well-played well-played contest. It was a determined Springville team which started a touchdown march from their own 45 yard line that spelled defeat for the 'Dogs. Behind the pile-driving Harold Kunze, who scored both of the Devils tallies," and the hard-running Marvin Fullmer who really spirited the Devils in their drive, the Springville team moved the ball to the four where Marvin set up the touchdown and Kunze powered through the line for the score. Smith booted the extra point to give them a 13-7 final tally. Fullmer started the drive by firing fir-ing a perfect pass to Craig Smith and then he, Simmons and Kunze took turns lugging the ball behind be-hind the effective blocking of the rangy forward wall of Kay Cook, George Black and Rex Blanchard who played heads-up ball all the way. Provo came back strong with only 2:37 minutes to go and completed com-pleted two beautiful pass plays to move "the ball to the Springville 29 before Blanchard stopped the drive with an interception which gave Springville plenty of time to run the time out with straight football plays. Following Provo's initial score in the second quarter, the Red Devils, led by Fullmer's passing and Kunze's outstanding power dives, carried the ball 41 yards to score. The kick for the extra point was blocked. Springville's win was an achievement which the. team members mem-bers will long remember.
