Show sHonored . . . I ' j Mrs. Wm. L. (Merle) Schreiner Merle Schreiner Is "Mother of Year" From Springville The Springville Federated Clubs have named Mrs. Wm. L. (Merle) Schreiner, mother of four children, as Mother of the Year. Her name will be entered in district competition compe-tition and the winner in this division di-vision will go to the state. State Mothers will enter the national contest in which a Utah woman took first last year. . Active in music, drama, church and club work, Mrs. Schreiner has served as president of the Springville Spring-ville Playhouse, and is presently treasurer of the organization. She has also served as a director the past seven years and during the time has directed five major productions, pro-ductions, and has been a cast member mem-ber in four other plays. The past summer, she organized a children's theater in Springville and produced three playlettes with 45 boys and girls taking part. Her church duties are numerous. She is organist and class leader in her ward Relief Society organization. organi-zation. She is accompanist for the ward choir and stake MIA drama leader. She is a teacher of piano and gives considerable service singing, as well as an accompanist, especially espec-ially for her husband, who is also a talented vocalist. - Mrs. Schreiner is presently enrolled en-rolled with the Bel Canto chorus. An active club member she has served as president of the Ladies Literary club and the Alpha Beta club. Each year the federated clubs select a candidate for the Mother of the Year to be entered in district, dis-trict, state and national competion and it is a distinct honor to be named to any one of the divisions. |
