Show Interesting Safety Meet Held by Aureole Club- Lt. Max Snow of the Provo Police Po-lice Dept. addressed the Aureole Club Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Lynn Alleman. He spoke on the vital problem of traffic safety. Lt. Snow has been a devoted devo-ted worker in the cause of accident acci-dent prevention and is working through the schools to make youngsters safety conscious. He told of the Safety Council's glum prediction that deaths from traffic accidents will reach 41-42,000 this year. He said any speed that's unsafe is unlawful and motorists are blindly driving at speed limits and not observing the law that existing conditions should determine deter-mine their speed. Drivers need to t realize how far their cars can travel during the important time it takes for observation, reaction and stopping. At just 15 miles per hour this distance would be about 53 feet. Other hazzards Lt. Snow pointed out were: Bicycles without bells, lights and reflectors; slow drivers; discourteous drivers and those who forget the condition of their car except at inspection time. Good tires, lights, brakes, windshield wipers and tail lights and clean windows are important all year. , To avoid danger you must see it. The rear view mirror is a second pair of eyes. A good rule to follow is "slow down at sundown." The hostess, Mrs. Alleman prepared pre-pared a delicious salad luncheon for the members. The president. Mrs. Eldon Palfreyman distributed the year's new program books. The next meeting will be held Nov. 6 at Mrs. Mark Johnson's home and Mrs. Harry Hulce will assist her. The speaker will be Mr. Phillip Christensen who will speak on "Inside the FBI." |
