Show STATEMENT OF INCOMING CITY OFFICERS April 4, 1853, is a date we should take cognizance of, for' it was ,on that day that Spring-flllie Spring-flllie held its first municipal election. It goes without saying that our growth has not been rapid but gradual and by so being we were able to build for the future as well as the present. Ouf's is a city that we can well be proud of; a city that undoubtedly undoubted-ly is one of the most civic minded, mind-ed, not only in our own state, but the entire west. Springviile, as we all know, houses the largest high school, art exhibit in the nation; and you, its citizens, are responsible. Springville, per capita, is one of the richest cities financially, that our state can boast of; each administration at its inception, pledged itself to the betterment of our city and none have ever failed in their pledge. The first administration took the oath for a bigger and better city and each subsequent administration has continued with a great deal of success. To the past administration, headed by Dr. George A: Anderson Ander-son as mayor, we offer our congratulations con-gratulations for their very outstanding out-standing success for it is one which he and the citizens can point to with a great deal of pride and the feeling that he has done his job well. Quoting Mayor Thorn, he says: "As this new year begins, I wish to express my thanks and appreciation to you people for your confidence in placing me in such an honorable and responsible respon-sible position as you have seen fit to do in electing me to the office of mayor, with the very splendid group of men you have e;ected to the city council. They and myself re-pledge and re-dedicate re-dedicate ourselves to the advancement advance-ment of our city and with your help and continued co-operation we cannot fail, so here is wishing wish-ing you one and all a happy and prosperous New Year."
