Show Japan War Lords Hold Conference TOKYO, Jan. 11 tT.R Japan's leaders met today in a solemn imperial conference, fifth of its kind in the country's modern history, his-tory, to decide definitely on a long range program of action in China. National interest centered on the conference in the belief that decisions of paramount importance import-ance to Japan, China and Far East impended. Emperor Hirohito, generalissimo generalissi-mo of the armies, presided. Cabinet Cab-inet ministers, highest officers of the army and navy, and civilian personages attended the confer-' ence. This was the first imperial conference con-ference in 23 years. It was taken for granted that the conference must decide on relentless re-lentless war against China, to continue con-tinue until resistance had been crushed and the present "anti-Japanese" "anti-Japanese" Chinese government ousted. To this end, it was 'believed 'believ-ed by many, that either now or soon Japan would set up a monarchy mon-archy in notrhern China. |
