Show W. flont Ferry, Utah Mining Man Called by Death SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 11 (U.R) W. Mont Ferry, managing director di-rector and president of Silver King Coalition Mines Co., died here today. He was 66. Death was reported caused by pneumonia. Ferry, president of the Utah senate from 1911 to 1915 and mayor of Salt Lake City for the next four years, was a native of Michigan. Upon receiving word of the mining man's death, Industrial Commission Chairman William M. Knerr suspended temporarily wage negotiations between min ing operators and the International Internation-al Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Smelt-er workers. Ferry was spokesman for the mining operators. A statement of regret was released re-leased by the union negotiating committee, emphasizing Ferry's fair attitude and his understanding understand-ing of the problems confronting the workers. |
