Show News Briefs Mrs. Leonard J. Thatcher of this city is convalescing from an operation for appendicitis, performed per-formed last Saturday, at the Aird hospital. A large assembly of ward members mem-bers and visitors enjoyed the program pro-gram of music given Sunday night in the Third ward by the M. I. A. chorus, under direction of LaRcll Johnson. Tryouts are being held this week at the high school for teams to enter the livestock judging contests at Logan the latter part of April. The agriculture department depart-ment of the local school under direction di-rection of W. H. Anderson, plans to enter judging teams in dairy, poultry and farm mechanics. Officers Offi-cers of the local Future Farmer chapter will be elected soon, and these will attend the contests as delegates from the local chapter. Miss Cora Fuller, formerly of Price, a daughter of Mrs. Susie Fuller of this city, was recently appointed vice-president of the student body of Agriculture College, Col-lege, Logan, according to word received re-ceived here. Miss Fuller is a senior sen-ior at the college and her appointment ap-pointment was for the remainder of the school year. Miss Fuller made an enviable record at the Carbon County high school in Mrious activities and has been an outstanding student in every line at college. The Springville Public library has recently received a valuable set of music books, including ten volumes, which may be of special spe-cial interest to piano and other music students. They are entitled, "The Ideal Home Music." Mrs. Fred Brown of Provo is recovering from an operation for appendicitis which she underwent Tuesday night at the Aird hospital. hos-pital. Citizens are reminded that sprinkling permits will be necessary neces-sary before lawns can be irrigated irri-gated with city water, after April 20. It will be unlawful to use a sprinkling hose without a permit per-mit after that date. |
