Show LOCAL NOTES Manti temple, Friday. A program at the temple which was especially especi-ally well received, included vocal duets by Mrs. Ellen Anderson and Harvey Hutchinson. Richard Roy Wightman, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Wight-man Wight-man of Springville, graduated from Pomona college on June 14. Of the one hundred and thirty-four seniors who took the comprehensive examinations, Mr. Wightman was eleventh highest in scholastic standing. He was also prominent in debating and won the Kneeland debate prize, speaking upon the question that "The Power of the Supreme Court in Respect to Review Should be Limited." Miss Mary Louise Wingate of Springville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wingate, underwent an operation for appendicitis Monday, Mon-day, at a Provo hospital.' Miss Erma Cellventra, daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. F. H. Cellventra of this city, will ieave Friday for Southern California where she will spend two weeks at Whit-tier Whit-tier college, studying international, internation-al, relations and peace problems. Later she will engage in six weeks' active peace work in the Emergency Peace association, with headquarters in Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif. Five scouts and two scouters representing Kolob district left Monday to attend tthe national jamboree at Washington, D. C. Those included in the group were M. W. Bird, and G. L. Beardall, scouters, and Taylor and Richard Reynolds, Ruel Crandall, Mark Eddmgton, Joe Salisbury, Grant Clyde and Malcalm Condie, scouts. John Anderson of Benjamin, received a deep laceration to his arm ' and . his ear was severely cut in an automobile accident here Saturday night. The accident acci-dent occurred at the corner of Fourth East and Center street, when trucks driven by Anderson and another by Reed Rigtrup of Springville, collided. Rigtrup received re-ceived minor cuts and bruises and his father H. C. Rigtrup, also escaped with minor injuries. Several men and teams are employed em-ployed by the city streets and walks department to cut weeds from the city walks before the large crowds of visitors arrive for the 2-day Fourth of July celebration. cele-bration.
